LoBio is seeking a Product Engineer to help design, build, and scale our next-generation blood testing platform. You will sit at the intersection of hardware, firmware, and user experience, working cross-functionally with R&D, process engineering, and operations to translate product requirements into robust, manufacturable, and delightful solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end product engineering tasks from concept through validation and release.
  • Collaborate with scientists and process engineers to translate functional needs into mechanical/electromechanical designs.
  • Develop rapid prototypes, run design experiments, and iterate based on performance data.
  • Author and maintain design documentation, test procedures, and release notes.
  • Support DFM/DFX efforts with external vendors and manufacturing partners.
  • Instrument systems for data logging and performance analytics.
  • Contribute to risk analysis (FMEA) and reliability testing plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, or Product Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Hands-on prototyping skills (mechanical assemblies, fixtures, test rigs, or embedded systems).
  • Experience taking a product from concept/prototype to pilot or early manufacturing.
  • Strong documentation discipline and version control familiarity.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, resource-constrained startup environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with medical device development, life sciences tools, or regulated hardware.
  • CAD proficiency (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape) and basic simulation/FEA familiarity.
  • Embedded/firmware collaboration (basic ability to interface with microcontrollers, sensors, or data acquisition tools).
  • Comfort with structured experimentation, data analysis, and statistical thinking.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: bias for action, learning agility, and ownership.

Compensation
